My freshman year.
From my reading, I noticed that Rebekah mention how Americans would be very friendly but their words can sometimes be meaningless. For example she said that when Americans engage in conversation they would say see you soon or nice to meet you! These are positive reinforcement terms, but when they would see the person later they would act like they don't know the person. I agree with this on some level because I also see this behavior happen when I meet new people or when I see friends of mine meet for the first time. I believe Americans conversational style are like this because it is a social norm to greet new or foreign people this way. Even though This is a social norm, we don't actually take the time to process the information we just learned about the person. I believe if we actually tried to listen and interpret others feelings, people outside American would not think our words is meaningless.
The Rose response
From my reading of the rose, I liked how the author said it is important for young adults to get hands on experience in their field. I really like how they talked about their vocational school in that process. I liked this because I went to a vocational high school and their purpose was to get the kids experience with their trade. I also like the teachers method of teaching. I liked how the teacher would asked the students want suggestions they had to fixing the problem. I believe this is a good method because it allows the kids to think critically through the problem. This way when they are faced with a similar or the same problem again they will automatically know how to attack the problem. I believe hands on experience is one of the best ways to learn because you are actually teaching yourself in this process.
